Nutriceutical Lingzhi
Lingzhi, in Chinese meaning “wondrous fungus,” is one of the earliest mushrooms known to have been used in medicine. It has been found to have no notable side-effects and is among the most popular health supplement products in East Asia.
Hong Kong Mushroom Ltd. - the company behind the product – wanted to create an upscale brand that targeted consumers both young and elderly alike. The challenge then was obvious: how to create a brand identity that is bold yet traditional? Since the focus of this project was to strike a balance between these two very different ideologies, the contrasts in the design had to be cleverly blended to avoid any glaring incongruities.
In order to emphasize the fact that lingzhi is an over-the-counter health product with no side-effects, we decided to use a warm, saturated pink-orange as a background color to highlight its inviting, all-inclusive nature. The logo also features the soft, organic curves of the lingzhi mushroom to emphasize its natural quality. While maintaining a sensitivity to these gentler facets of lingzhi, we cast the mushroom in a sharp, high contrast image to grant it a bit of a modern edge and underscore its relevance to consumers in all phases of life.
